Alan Clarke, 66, of Santa Rosa, CA., passed away peacefully at home on January 27th, 2014, with his loving wife at his side.  Over the past year he put up a brave defense against the brain cancer which finally took him from us.

Alan was a drummer, organic gardener, gourmand, and lover of life.  He worked in the wine industry for over 30 years, at the Heritage House, then for Select Wine Marketing, the Astoria Wine Group, and lastly, Flavor Bistro.  He was known for his big heart, ready smile, and the gentle way he had of teaching about one of his greatest pleasures, wine.

The oldest of eight children, he grew up in the Santa Clara Valley.  He is survived by his siblings, Cindy Clarke, Teresa Clarke, Reese Clarke, Bruce Clarke, Michael Clarke, Brian Clarke and David Clarke.  He leaves behind his wife, Sandy Clarke, his daughter Kelsey, 21, and son Connor, 16.  His upbeat, infectious spirit will be dearly missed by all who loved him and knew him.  The family sends heartfelt thanks for the exemplary care of the Sutter AIM staff, Hospice Care, and the Angels at the Institute of Health & Healing.  A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, February 9th. Alan lived in our neighborhood. There were three of us who did "stuff" around there.
